I took Dave for his first visit to The Sauce Shoppe today. I knew that I wanted a good tasting sauce and an extremely hot sauce to use as an additive. I had a really hard time choosing between Da Bomb's Final Answer and Blair's Ultra Death Sauce. After much deliberation, fondling of both bottles multiple times, boring Dave, and pestering Sam (the owner) I went with the Ultra Death Sauce. This is the hottest sauce that Blair's makes before you get into their special reserve sauces. I've previously tried their Mega Death sauce and it was killer. But now that I'm blogging about this stuff I figure I gotta "man up" and see what this stuff is all about.
I did not take a spoon of this stuff...that would be crazy. This stuff clocks in at over 1,100,000 scoville units and...well...it will mess you up. I did try it on a toothpick and then on a cracker with a chunk of chicken. It lived up to it's Warning Label. Yes, it has a warning label telling you that it should only be used when diluted and never consumed by itself. This is not something you would put on your taco's. I'd guess about 2 drops in an entire pot of chili will get most people sweating. Now for my ratings:
Packaging: 4 stars (i really liked the coffin box and the skull key chain)
Taste: 2 (it's really just a lot of heat and it tastes like fatali peppers)
Initial Heat: 5 stars (this is the hottest stuff i've ever tried...it's 3-8 times hotter than a habanero. approach with caution.)
After Burn: 4.5 stars (again...this stuff is really hot and it sticks around for awhile. you've been warned.)

I lost a bet and had to eat tablespoon amount of raw ultra death sauce without drinking anything. It was so hot i couldn't even feel it in my mouth. I started shaking and also lost feeling from my finger tips. When i swallowed it it started to burn in my stomach. I couldn't even move. After that i threw up because it was burning so strongly. Hope i don't lose that kind of bet again :D
ReplyDeleteJesus NEVER try this stuff!!!! My friend and I did this on a dare at a sleepover. Worst idea ever! It was only 2 drops, but I seriously thought she was dying- she was crying, grabbing at her throat, choking, and could barely breath. With LOTS of milk she was able to ease the pain but only slightly. My advice: don't even support this company by buying this product. You will regret it.

DeleteYou should not be telling people not to buy their product. There is nothing dangerous or threatening about this hot sauce. It is spicy and it tastes good. If you are too dumb to read the label, you shouldn't be bashing their product. If you're doing it as a dare, you and your stupid friends deserve to suffer. No kidding, a dramatic girl was complaining about an extra spicy hot sauce being too hot? My advice: don't bash a company and their product because you're a moron.
DeleteA friend of mine gave this sauce to me, cause i love hot stuff. So i tried it on a potato chip, with an average of 10 drops on it. Wow, i didn't think it was going to be that hot!!! But i was wrong. My eyes were watered up, but the flavor was great. Good job on the sauce guys. I want something hotter? Help me out and i will buy something hotter for you? ReplyDeleteThis is a great hot sauce. As the label says, do not eat it with out dilution. I have put drops in my ramen and soups and it adds a delicious flavor and the right amount of heat for me that gets me sweating, but is not overwhelming. I have tried eating drops of it on crackers for full effect. It is a stronger burn but not dangerous and it actually tastes good. The burn is gone within minutes.

Customer service worse than Comcast. Each time I ordered directly from Blair's it took several months to get my sauce. Also no consistency between bottles. One bottle will be very hot and the next quite mild. I do not recommend this product. I bought them for the heat. All the sauce's were with a nasty taste.
ReplyDeleteI have been through several bottles of Ultra Death. The heat is fine, but I can't take the nasty bitter extract taste anymore. You can get just as hot without extract and it tastes 10X better. I can't understand why people think this actually tastes good?
