Scott Reviews Speedy's #44

Sam (the Sauce Shoppe guy) has been pushing Speedy's #44 on me since the first time I visited his shop.  He said it was made by a local guy down at the beach.  Well, I finally bought a bottle and this stuff is good.  It tastes like a spicy gourmet steak sauce.  Taste-wise, it's one of the best sauces I've had.  Not too salty.  Not too vinegary.  A really great tasting sauce.  Even my friend Nate, who really hates when I push sauce on him...I think he thinks I'm like a drug dealer but for heat instead of intoxicants, loved this stuff.  The only downside is it isn't very hot.  But if you are not into hot stuff then you could definitely give it a shot.  It's pretty mild.  Ok...review time.

Packaging: 4.5 stars (i love the label.  the guy who makes it seems to be into biking...the self propelled kind...when you Google this stuff it shows up on some bike forums.)
Taste: 5 stars (what can i say...this stuff is great)
Initial Heat: 1.5 stars (not very hot...but did i mention how great it tasted?)
After Burn: 1.5 stars (see above comment)

Scott Reviews Blair's Ultra Death Sauce *CORRECTION TO SCOVILLE RATING*

*CORRECTION: I had originally written that this stuff clocks in around 1,100 scoville units.  Which may have left some of you wondering why I was raving about it being so hot.  Well,  Scott  the editor missed it.  The real rating of this stuff is over 1,100,000 scoville units.  Which is why this stuff is so ridiculous.  Sorry about that.  The editor has been thuroughly lashed, tied to a bumper and dragged through town while wearing a chicken suit, and been forced to eat fire sauce from Taco Bell.*

I took Dave for his first visit to The Sauce Shoppe today. I knew that I wanted a good tasting sauce and an extremely hot sauce to use as an additive. I had a really hard time choosing between Da Bomb's Final Answer and Blair's Ultra Death Sauce. After much deliberation, fondling of both bottles multiple times, boring Dave, and pestering Sam (the owner) I went with the Ultra Death Sauce. This is the hottest sauce that Blair's makes before you get into their special reserve sauces. I've previously tried their Mega Death sauce and it was killer. But now that I'm blogging about this stuff I figure I gotta "man up" and see what this stuff is all about.

I did not take a spoon of this stuff...that would be crazy. This stuff clocks in at over 1,100,000 scoville units and...well...it will mess you up. I did try it on a toothpick and then on a cracker with a chunk of chicken. It lived up to it's Warning Label. Yes, it has a warning label telling you that it should only be used when diluted and never consumed by itself. This is not something you would put on your taco's. I'd guess about 2 drops in an entire pot of chili will get most people sweating. Now for my ratings:

Packaging: 4 stars (i really liked the coffin box and the skull key chain)
Taste: 2 (it's really just a lot of heat and it tastes like fatali peppers)
Initial Heat: 5 stars (this is the hottest stuff i've ever tried...it's 3-8 times hotter than a habanero. approach with caution.)
After Burn: 4.5 stars (again...this stuff is really hot and it sticks around for awhile. you've been warned.)

If you are interested in watching people try this sauce...here is a video.

Scott Reviews Toad Sweat's "Chocolate Orange Dessert Sauce"

Last month I felt a little adventurous and bought something that I thought was odd.  I purchased a dessert hot sauce.  I wasn't even aware that such things existed.  But apparently they do. The dessert sauce that I bought was a bottle of Toad Sweat's "Chocolate Orange Dessert Hot Sauce".  I bought it for 2 reasons.  One, I loved the label.  I'm a sucker for great packaging.  Two, it said it went with ice cream and waffles.  The thought of having hot sauce on these items was just too temping.  So I bit.

After having this sauce for a month now I can honestly say that it was awesome.  Unfortunately I haven't had it on waffles yet.  But I have had it on ice cream...many times.  I've also given it to friends on ice cream...many times.  Everyone has loved it.  The chocolate and orange flavors come together to nicely and have an almost caramel flavor.  The burn is wonderful neither too hot nor too mild.  Basically, I can't recommend  it enough.  Now onto my scores:

Packaging:  4.5 Stars
Taste: 4.5 Stars
Initial Heat: 3.5 Stars
After Burn: 3 Stars
